Book Feels: Me Before You, Jojo Moyes

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes Bumblebee Tights Quote

I read this book at the beginning of the year. I wanted to read it before the movie was released, though now I am not sure if I am going to watch the movie. This is why I have not posted a review. ย What I felt bout the story is not a popular opinion. And since my thoughts are mainly negative – like for example I did not find the heroine Lou Clark relatable at all, I related more with Will Traynor. I did not want to post a review. I will focus on a positive, and that is the quote above.

It’s common sense, but as my Mum says, common sense is not so common. But how many of us are just going through the motions, settled into our routine where we don’t challenge anything for ourselves. Where “doing” substitutes for “living” or worse “being”?

I doodled the bumblebee tights with the quote because it represented Lou’s childhood. When she was carefree and untouched by personal tragedy. Before her fears forced her to settle to a dreary existence.

I didn’t love the book as I had hoped, but I didn’t hate it enough not to give the sequel a chance and in my (again unpopular) opinion, Me After Youย is a better story. I laughed more and felt more in that book.

What are your thoughts about the book? Did you love it? Hate it? Or maybe you’re like me and you’re just ambivalent?
